The Rudolph Matas Library strives to maintain a current collection for health sciences in a broad clinical, research and public health disciplines. The library collects current scholarly information which supports the research, clinical, administrative and educational needs of its users. The collection covers the practice of medicine and related biomedical, public health and related disciplines, research literature, methodological literature, and in-depth, authoritative analyses of areas influencing biomedicine and health care. The collection is predominantly English.
Tulane's collection contains more than 200,000 bound volumes, and currently licenses approximately 1600 electronic journals. The Medical Library managed electronic collection is supplemented by over 25,000 full-text journal titles licensed by other Tulane Libraries, along with over 50,000 electronic books. Over 400 licensed databases are available for searching across all topics. Access to a number of the major medical databases are provided by the Matas Library by license to the entire Tulane student body. These databases include: Embase.com; The Cochrane Library; Ovid access to Medline, Global Health & Healthstar; Gideon, MD Consult, AccessMedicine, Stat!Ref, Exam Master and ISI Journal Citation Reports.
The Databases may be searched in the Articles and Databases (a Cross Database federated search engine and database list using MetaLib) and electronic journals may be searched in the catalog and the Tulane E-Journals (link resolver utilizing SFX).
