Interlibrary Loan
The Matas Library uses an automated interlibrary loan system, ILLiad. Users must register (create and username and password) the first time they use the system. Matas Library extends free interlibrary loan service to clinicians,
faculty, staff, students, and researchers of all the Tulane Health Sciences Programs. The Business Library and Law Library provide services to their Tulane academic communities and the Howard-Tilton Library on the uptown campus provides Interlibrary Loan services for all other academic programs. Please contact our ILL Department at medlib@tulane.edu with questions.

Interlibrary Loan services are used to obtain articles or books NOT available in the Tulane University Library system. When requesting an interlibrary loan first, check both the TULink (Tulane E-Journals List) and the Library Catalog for availability. Requests may be submitted directly from the citation in the TULink system when an article is not available to Tulane. Always use the PubMed identifier (PMID) for medical articles, when it is available.
Interlibrary Loans are not provided for books that are checked out or on reserve, nor for journal articles available in the print volumes of the Library. Copying and scanning equipment is available in the Matas Library for print journals if electronic versions are required. Document scanning and delivery for the print articles and book chapters is provided for clinical emergencies and for distance patrons, only.
Articles are generally supplied in electronic format within several days via the ILLiad system. Books may take longer as they are shipped via mail or UPS.
If you need to renew an Interlibrary Loan item, or have questions about other items, please call the Matas ILL office at (504) 988-2413, or email at medlib@tulane.edu.
Borrowing libraries may use Docline (LAUTUL) or OCLC (LTM). Fee-based services are offered to anyone needing medical information. Unaffiliated health professionals, businesses, researchers must sign a contract for the LoansomeDoc Service. Information and essential paperwork to set up this service are available on our LoansomeDoc Guide. Contact the ILL Department for the fee schedule and contractual information.
